The Office of Human Resources staff carries out its duties in accordance with the Universityˇ¦s administrative policy, which includes building a comprehensive personnel system, recruiting the best quality personnel, providing outstanding faculty and employee benefits and promoting a spirit of harmony and cooperation. Personnel-related tasks are performed with the ideal of supporting the University in carrying out its educational function and in cultivating outstanding students. In addition to complying with the Education Act and regulations of the Ministry of Education, the Office of Human Resources also follows the laws and regulations of the University. Below is a summary of the Office of Human Resources duties:
To Attract First-rate Talent

  I. Faculty recruitment

Faculty recruitment is carried out based on the rules and regulations regarding the procedures and structure of the University faculty review committee system. First, a candidate must pass review of the faculty review committee of the department or educational unit. Then, he/she must pass review by a committee of the college or one made up of faculty in a common subject area. Finally, a University-level faculty review committee is convened, and a report is sent to the University president.

  II. Faculty promotions

The faculty promotion review process is carried out once per academic year. Faculty promotions are handled in accordance with the related regulations of the University. First, faculty member promotions are reviewed by a faculty review committee of the department or education unit. Then, promotions are re-reviewed by a faculty review committee at the college level or made up of faculty members in a common subject area. Finally, if a candidate for promotion passes review by the University level faculty review committee, a report is sent to the Ministry of Education for approval.

  III. Faculty and staff service

The University has formulated faculty service regulations, teaching assistant service regulations and staff service regulations to inform faculty and staff of their rights and obligations. Newly recruited faculty and staff are provided with guidelines and information regarding University regulations. In addition, the University organizes briefings regarding administrative affairs, as well as training courses, to allow faculty and staff members to better understand the University.

  IV. Faculty and staff training

A. Faculty member and teaching assistant advanced studies are handled in accordance with the related regulations and procedures, including the decision to study in Taiwan or abroad. In addition, faculty members are recommended to participate in National Science Council advanced study programs in Taiwan and abroad, to elevate the quality of the Universityˇ¦s faculty.

B. Training of administrative staff is handled in accordance with the administrative staff training regulations. Special lectures are held on a non-regular basis. In addition, every year the University organizes document writing and English language courses to support the administrative staff in acquiring new skills and knowledge to elevate the quality of service.

  V. Retirement and pension payments

Faculty and staff retirement and pension payments are handled in accordance with the University faculty and staff retirement and pension payment regulations.

  VI. Insurance and other benefits

A. According to the regulations, University faculty and staff participate in private university faculty and staff and dependents or retirees insurance.

B. The University offers subsidies for faculty and employee outings.

C. Requests for vacation leave from professors are handled under the related regulations.

D. To protect the rights of faculty members, and to maintain a harmonious campus environment, the University, under the regulations of the Ministry of Education, has established a faculty grievance review committee. Faculty members may file a grievance in accordance with the related regulations.

  VII. Salary determination

Salaries and compensation are decided based on the standards for faculty and administrative staff of the University.
